It’s Saturday morning. You could really go for an extravagant night out with your friends, but your bank account is telling you to stay home in your sweatpants and watch more Netflix. Hosting your own BYOS (bring your own something) Game Night is an easy and fun way to meet in the middle. By decorating with items that you already own and choosing a menu that appeals to the masses and is on the cheap end of the spectrum, you are set to have an outstanding night. Throw in a little alcohol, and your night can easily turn into a raunchy version of the Newlywed game like ours did!
Decorations: Easy peasy. My husband and I are extremely competitive, so we own a bunch of games already. For our centerpiece, we stacked our best games in the center of the table in a unique, off-kilter kind of way. We used the letters from Scrabble (my favorite smarty pants game) to add a little personalization throughout the house.
We put extra die + poker chips in little votives around the center piece atop of few playing cards. They were easy to put together and FREE. Nuff said.
Food + Bevs: We went with tacos because they are easy to customize for any dietary restriction and cheap-o-la. We had our guests bring their favorite fixins, and we all gathered in the kitchen while the guys were cooking up the beans, beef, and chicken with a little salsa music paying from Songza.
On the drink menu was margaritas + Coronas. We still have a ridiculous amount of alcohol leftover from our wedding (yes, it was almost 2.5 years ago). So with that on hand and my raging love for Tequila, margaritas was an obvious choice. Our guests brought some extra limes and we added it to our mix, frozen fruit, and frozen Minute Maid Limeade to make a few delicious concoctions.
Have some Coronas on hand for when the games get going so that you don’t have to keep taking Margarita breaks in the middle of a vigorous round of Telestrations!
This whole evening probably cost us around $75, and since we hosted we got to keep the leftovers! We ate like Mexican kings for days!
